🇮🇳 India Dominate Namibia to Extend Unbeaten World Cup Run
India continued their commanding run in the T20 World Cup with a comprehensive 93-run victory over Namibia in Delhi. The win marked India’s 10th straight triumph in T20 World Cup history, underlining their dominance in the shortest format.
After posting a strong total of 209/9, India dismantled Namibia’s batting lineup to bowl them out for 116 in 18.2 overs.
Ishan Kishan’s Powerplay Blitz Sets the Platform
Ishan Kishan stole the show early with a breathtaking half-century. Coming out aggressively after the early dismissal of Sanju Samson , Kishan shifted gears rapidly and brought up his fifty in just 20 balls.
His sixth over assault on JJ Smit — smashing four sixes and a boundary — completely tilted the momentum India’s way. By the end of the powerplay, India had raced to 86/1, one of their highest powerplay totals in T20 World Cup history.
Kishan eventually departed for a scintillating 61 off 24 balls, but the damage had already been done.
Namibia Fight Back Through Spin
Just when India looked set for a 230-plus total, Namibia’s captain Gerhard Erasmus sparked a comeback.
Bowling from an unusually low release point and clever angles, Erasmus claimed a superb 4/20, dismissing key batters including Kishan and Tilak Varma. Namibia’s spinners collectively slowed the scoring rate dramatically in the middle overs.
Despite a strong platform at 104/1 in seven overs, India managed 209/9 — a solid total but slightly below what seemed possible at one stage.
Hardik Anchors, But Death Overs Restrict India
Hardik Pandya played a powerful knock of 52 off 28 balls, striking four boundaries and four sixes. However, Namibia’s death bowling, particularly from JJ Smit, prevented India’s power-hitters from exploding in the final overs.
India scored just four runs off the last 11 deliveries — a rare slowdown in an otherwise aggressive innings.
Still, 209 proved more than enough on a pitch that offered grip and turn.
Varun Turns the Game in a Single Over
Namibia began their chase positively, reaching 57/1 in the powerplay with Louren Steenkamp playing fluently. At that stage, the contest still had some life.
But the introduction of Varun Chakaravarthy changed everything.
Striking with his very first delivery, Varun dismissed Steenkamp with a googly. He then removed Loftie-Eaton and Smit in quick succession, finishing with 3/7 in just two overs. His variations and deceptive pace completely broke Namibia’s rhythm.
From 71/1, Namibia collapsed rapidly to 88/5.
Axar and Hardik Finish the Job
Axar Patel complemented Varun beautifully, picking up two wickets including the crucial scalp of Erasmus. A wicket-maiden further crushed Namibia’s hopes.
Hardik returned later in the innings to grab two wickets, including an LBW and a caught dismissal, while Jasprit Bumrah bowled with discipline to maintain pressure.
The match ended fittingly when Shivam Dube forced Zane Green into a hit-wicket dismissal — sealing a dominant Indian victory.
India’s Growing 200+ Record
This was India’s 47th 200-plus total in Men’s T20 Internationals — the highest by any team globally. Since the 2024 T20 World Cup, India have recorded 14 totals above 200, more than any other side in that period.
The consistency of their batting depth combined with a versatile bowling attack makes them one of the strongest contenders in the tournament.

What This Means
India’s all-round performance highlights their balance — explosive top order, middle-order power, and a spin attack capable of dismantling any opposition.
For Namibia, the positive powerplay start and Erasmus’ brilliant spell were bright spots, but the middle-order collapse proved too costly.
India march on with confidence, momentum, and another statement victory in the T20 World Cup.
