Blast at Delhi's Red Fort Causes Panic; Security Measures Increased Across the Capital

A strong explosion occurred at Delhi's historic Red Fort on Monday evening, a slow moving car turn into a blast, leading to alarm and drawing nationwide attention.
The blast took place close to one of the main entrances of the 17th-century monument, resulting in several injuries and causing some damage to nearby buildings. Officials have initiated a comprehensive inquiry into the incident, describing it as a “serious act intended to disturb peace in the capital.”
Details of the Incident
Eyewitnesses reported hearing a loud explosion around 6:55 PM when a number of tourists and residents were inside the Red Fort premises.
The blast was followed by smoke and confusion as people rushed to safety. Security personnel at the site swiftly evacuated the area and summoned blast disposal and forensic teams.
Emergency services, including ambulances and fire departments, arrived at the scene shortly after the explosion.
The injured individuals were taken to nearby hospitals for medical attention. Initial reports suggest that an improvised explosive device (IED) might have been used, although the exact type of explosive has not been officially confirmed.

Actions by Police and Government
The Delhi Police and National Investigation Agency (NIA) have assumed charge of the investigation.
Forensic specialists are examining debris from the site to determine the origin and mechanism of the blast. The Delhi Police Commissioner stated that “no possibility is being overlooked” and that CCTV footage from the vicinity is under review to help identify those responsible.
The Home Minister and other top officials have been informed of the situation.
As a response, security has been greatly increased at key public locations, metro stations, and tourist sites in Delhi. Extra police personnel have been deployed to ensure public safety and maintain order.
